If you live in the Washington DC area you cannot help but be consumed with the constant news about the presidential inauguration and related events. Never have been so many streets been closed, and never has the anticipation of the attendance of million people been so high. I was updating my professional profile on LinkedIn the other day, and I realized that there was a lot missing about what I do. In essence my profile contained a lot of the stuff I did for a living, but not was lacking all the work I do on volunteer basis. All the community contributions such as speaking, organizing, writing etc, was left out all together. Yesterday, February 21st was a great day. We have our very first DotNetNuke User Group! The meeting worked out pretty well. We had about 15 people from the expected 21. Nik did the honors by being the presenter. He showed the group how to build a web part implement third party componets. In his demo, Nik showcased ComponentArts controls. As is usual, we had pizzas and sodas for everyone and the BIForce guys showed some of their modules as well. Finally, we (Nik Kalyani & Me) have been able to launch this user group! Our first meeting will be held tomorrow at 7:00PM at 1919 Gallows Rd Suite 400, Vienna, VA 22182. A lot of people, including myself have long awaited for this to happen. I hope we get good attendance.
